If used correctly, condoms are an efficient and safe contraceptive. They have to be used during every intercourse. The condom has to be removed correctly shortly after ejaculation to avoid the condom slipping off or sperm leaking when the penis is removed from the vagina. Using inappropriate lubricants can lead to condom breaking during sexual intercourse.

Inconsistent use of condoms is not an efficient contraceptive method, and in that case, we advise using additional contraception.
