Dr Anastassia Schults Starts Minor Surgical Procedures at Valvekliinik

Minor surgical procedures are now available on site at Valvekliinik. The minor surgery appointments are carried out by Dr Anastassia Schults. Procedures are performed under local anaesthesia, and patients can go home immediately afterwards.

No referral is needed. You are welcome both if a doctor has already assessed that a lesion needs to be removed and if you would like an on-site consultation – our doctor will examine you and decide whether removal is necessary and safe. When removal is indicated, we offer it as a paid service. Appointments can be booked online or by phone.

Which procedures does Dr Schults perform?

  • removal of moles and other skin lesions when medically indicated;
  • ingrown toenail surgery when conservative treatment has not helped;
  • removal of an atheroma (sebaceous cyst) that has repeatedly become inflamed, as well as emergency incision and drainage of an inflamed atheroma;
  • incision and drainage of an abscess;
  • wound cleaning and suturing;
  • removal of a superficial foreign body from a wound;
  • incision of a thrombosed haemorrhoid;
  • aspiration of elbow bursitis;
  • glucocorticosteroid injection into the knee joint for knee osteoarthritis when oral painkillers have not provided sufficient relief;
  • flushing of epicystostomy and nephrostomy tubes.

We do not remove skin lesions in the facial area – these require assessment by a specialist (dermatologist or plastic surgeon). For lesions on the head, the possibility depends on the exact location and is decided by the doctor during the examination.

All removed skin lesions are sent for histology

Every removed skin lesion – a mole, an atheroma, or any other piece of tissue – is always sent for histological examination. This is the only way to know for certain what the lesion was and to rule out malignancy. We will contact you as soon as the result arrives. The cost of the histological examination is added to the price of the procedure.

When should you book an appointment?

Book a minor surgery appointment if:

  • your family doctor or another physician has assessed that a lesion needs to be removed;
  • a mole has changed in shape, colour, or size, bleeds, or itches;
  • a lump has appeared under the skin that is growing, painful, or repeatedly becomes inflamed;
  • the skin around an ingrown toenail is painful, red, or discharging pus and home care (soaking, roomier footwear) has not helped;
  • a wound needs suturing – a clean wound can be sutured up to 18 hours after the injury, and up to 24 hours on the face and head.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral?

No. You can come to Valvekliinik without a referral. You may come with a previous doctor’s assessment or for an on-site consultation – the doctor will decide during the appointment whether the procedure is needed.

Is the service paid?

Yes, the doctor’s assessment and minor surgical procedures are paid services. When a skin lesion is removed, the cost of the histological examination is added. You can find the prices in our price list or ask by phone at +372 5911 0909 or by e-mail at info@valvekliinik.ee.

Is the procedure painful?

Procedures are performed under local anaesthesia; you will only feel the prick of the anaesthetic injection. After the anaesthesia wears off, ordinary over-the-counter painkillers are enough to relieve any discomfort.

Is the removed mole examined?

Yes, always. All removed skin lesions are sent for histological examination, and we inform the patient of the result.

Do you also remove moles from the facial area?

No, lesions in the facial area are referred to a specialist. For the head area, the doctor decides during the examination.

How soon after ingrown toenail surgery can I return to everyday life?

In most cases you can put weight on the foot straight away; sports and tight footwear should be avoided for 1–2 weeks until the wound has healed.
